Ending in style

The last race of the season, in Sao Paulo, was clearly not in our favour : the Interlagos track is located at an altitude of 800 meters, which favours the turbo engines versus our atmospheric ones. Additionally, the track had been resurfaced this year. It had a lot of grip, and therefore the tyre wear was much reduced, which did not let us benefit from our car’s better tyre usage.

On Friday, we were slightly in trouble, but we worked out a solution to our problems. During the race, we had once again the fastest car. Indeed, we were catching up the leading Porsche, and we could have won if the race hadn’t been neutralized behind the Safety Car until the chequered flag.

So, well, we finished second, and we won the constructor’s championship, which was our week-end’s goal.

To sum it up, our 2014 season has been truly fantastic. The team gave us an extraordinary car. Indeed, we were in a position to win all the races this season. And by the way, we won them all but three, the Austin and Sao Paulo rounds, and the Le Mans 24 Hours. This gives us a clear goal for 2015!
